It was time to add some new scratching posts to the home. Maine Coons like to scratch fairly often, and when they do they tend to try and stretch out as far as they can. This can make it a little challanging to find a post that really fits their needs, so we usually end up building our own. Here are two posts that we just made for under $60. All of the kitties were very happy with their new scratchers.
Roddy was at the 2013 Mid-Atlantic Regional to accept his awards for the last show season. Roddy was the 12th Best Kitten, and the 7th Best Long Hair Cat in the Mid-Atlantic Region. We are very proud of his accomplishments! We are also very excited to announce that at this show Roddy was able to get the remaining points he needed to achieve his Supreme Grand Champion Title. Roddy is now RW SGC MTNest Rodenbach of Valcoons!
Thank you to Phil Berger for the multiple times he acted as Roddy’s agent. His assistance was critical to Roddy’s success. And thank you very much to David and Judy for the privilege of owning such a cool cat.
Congratulations to Abbey Ale on her first litter. She did a great job and so far is doing a fantastic as a mom. See our kittens page for more details on the litter.
Thank you so much to David and Judy Bernbaum for all of their support. Having you a phone call away was so helpful and relieved a lot of stress. Thank you to Margie and Phil for whom we would not be here without them. Phil drove all the way from New York to Lansdale to help deliver the kittens!
This past weekend MTNest Rodenbach of Valcoons achieved the title of Supreme Grand Champion. Roddy has had a fun an successful show career so far. We look forward to next years show season. We are very proud of him. Thank you again very much to his breeders David and Judy Bernbaum for entrusting us with him.
We have always known that Maine Coons love water. They play in their water bowls, drink from sinks and often will jump into a wet shower after someone has used it, but this is the first time that we have had a cat who likes to give himself a bath. Every night we have a ritual of turning on the water in our bathroom sink, and the cats run up to drink from the running water. We like the routine because it encourages them to drink. They often will get a little wet as they try and drink, and will occasionally play with the water while drinking, but we have never had a cat who would lay underneath the running water and get completely soaked! Now you might think that this is a one time thing, but he does this almost every night. As you can see from the picture Beck was a little annoyed that Roddy was taking up the whole sink. It is a little difficult for him to drink with Roddy in the way.
Roddy had his best kitten show yet this season at the Wis-Ill Cat Fanciers show in St Francis Wisconsin. He was 2nd best of the best kitten for the weekend out of approximately 45 kittens. He received a final in every ring.
Thank you so much to Phil Berger of MaineVu, our mentors and good friends, for not only recommending that Roddy go to the show, but also taking him, since we were unable to attend. Also thanks to David and Judy of MTNest for trusting us with this cool cat.
Thank you very much to David and Judy Bernbaum of MTNest for trusting us with this handsome little guy. We are very excited to finally have gotten a ticked cat for our breeding program. View our boys page for more information about Roddy.
